MONDAY, November 14

4pm-6pm [Film Screening and Discussion – EIEP Lounge, SEL-East Room 2065]

Woman in Motion Documentary Screening and Conversation. Join Women in Engineering Programs for a screening of Woman in Motion, an inspiring documentary about Nichelle Nichols and her mission to recruit the next generation of trailblazing astronauts. TUESDAY, November 15

STEMMing Through the Storm: Radial Self-Care and Holisitic Well-Being. Terrell R. Morton, Ph.D. observes that in today's society, we often equate success to productivity. This is particularly true when it comes to persisting in STEM. The challenge with this equation is that is not account for how to be our best whole self, particularly when we consider the systems of oppression that operate on people differently because of their various identities. This session will discuss how to attend to one's whole self, engaging in a form of radical self-care that prompts joy, while navigating STEM spaces. This session is particularly geared for STEM students from racially marginalized groups. -- Presenter: Terrell R. The Power of Habits: Making your habits work toward your STEM Goal. Habits are the regular daily practices we don't often think about but yet, they are often what will make or break your goals. in this interactive workshop, take a scrutinous eye at your current practices, and learn strategies for how to incorporate small changes that will offer you a big impact towards your STEM goal. Presenter: Viviana Kabbabe-Thompson, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, College of Applied Health Sciences.

What Is The Uncertainty Principle?... Attend this week's session of the Undergraduate Math Club! We survey various mathematical aspects of the uncertainty principle, including Heisenberg's inequality and its variants. The connection to quantum mechanics will also be discussed briefly. The Math Club meets on Fridays at 2pm in SEO 612. Anyone can drop in. Presenter this week: Dr. Christof Sparber, Professor, Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science.
